Runway to Home - Camouflage Hits the Streets and Sheets

Hey Peeps, sorry to be so MIA but I've been buried way deep into some project installations.
Anywho, I'm sure y'all have seen camouflage gear everywhere this Spring and trust me, it'll be everywhere this summer. Yep, in fact, I just bought me  some camo flats to rock during this scorching Miami weather.

But did you know it's seeped into home decor? Say what? Sure has. Follow me over to Houzz where I'm dishing about that trend this week. Don't forget to post a comment, or two.

Go Girl, It's Your Birthday!

Age is a funny thing.....
The older I get, the less concerned I've become with celebrating each birthday with a big bang of a celebration.
I've learned to savor the moment, to dance in the wind if you will, to just revel in the awesomeness of being alive to see another year.
In truth, I'm just happy as punch to be in good health, to be a new mommy, a relatively new wife, and to have lived long enough to learn how to surround myself with true friends.
This year I'll gather a group of those close friends for a dinner celebration to toast to those simple things.

Of course, since it's a freaking birthday celebration, some cake will be had...

Thank you all for welcoming me into your lives - albeit virtually.
It's been quite a year and I'm truly blessed.
Happy birthday too to all my Taurus peeps. You guys rock.
P.S. Some lucky peeps will win these giveaway items tonight.
I'll announce the winners on Monday.
Have a great weekend y'all, or as we'd say in Jamaica, walk good.

Feeling Blue. In a Good Way.....

It's Tuesday, so what's there to be blue about? A lot. But in a good way.
I've been obsessed with royal blue in recent weeks and I have two clients to blame.
I purchased two of these amazing blue chairs from West Elm last night for this project and I now can't seem to get the rich textures of this color out of my head. It brings instant glamour to a room, especially when layered with black, white and gold. It can also just scream fun, that you're a bad-ass who could care less about living on the wild side in your design choices. Come see what I mean:

Don't you just feel the blue love? If you don't, I'll forgive you, but tell me what color combos have you drooling these days.
In other news, we're in the home stretch of our anniversary giveaway. Have you entered? To win, be sure to follow us all over town, and follow West Elm Village at Gulfstream and Holly at GlamourMash. Winners will be announced on Monday. You gotta be in it to win people so enter away. On this very blue Tuesday, please be fab.

To Mom, With Love

Source: google.com via Genny on Pinterest

So grateful everyday for my mother's love, words of encouragement and her fighting spirit. Grateful even more that I've been blessed to become a mom to a little boy that makes my heart sing every second of every day. Happy Mother's day to all who have been blessed with the gift of caring and nurturing a little soul.

Our Anniversary Giveaway! Woot Woot!

Funny how time flies when you're having fun.
We started this blogging journey a little over a year ago and had no clue what we were doing. Along the way, we've made some great friends, redesigned the blog, learned that word verification was the killer of all comments, and countless other blogging rules of engagement.
To celebrate our one year adventure we gotta have a giveaway of course no?
And in true Miami fashion, it's gotta be loud, it's gotta be the mother of all giveaways, with not one one, but two freaking prizes for two freaking winners.
Hold on to your hats people, hold on.
First up, our friends at our local West Elm (Village At Gulfstream) have offered up one of these swanky Martini side tables. Yep, you get to sip martini on one of these bad boys. I've used these in a project, or three, and they are hella cool.

Then Miss Holly over at GlamourMash was also generous enough to donate a necklace from her awesome collection. I purchased the Nicole necklace recently and can't wait to rock it out this summer. The winner can have the necklace of their choice.

That's it. Two awesome prizes. Two winners. You know the rules.
You must follow us on Google Friend Connect (GFC) and Bloglovin.
Bonus points for following us on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.
Follow West Elm and GlamourMash.
That's a whole lot a following right? But what's a little follow love for these goodies? Our giveaway ends next Friday, May 17 -  on my very own "21st" birthday. Winners will be announced on Monday, May 20. Good luck Peeps! Now go on and win them prizes!

New Project, New Updates and Breaking News...

The foyer in our latest project, will have this insanely fabulous wallpaper. I have not been able to stop staring at this beauty, and it aint even installed yet!
Whew, my Monday was a doozy. Car broke down at 7:45 a.m., while on my way to a potentially very tempestuous meeting with two of my contractors. Funny how life works eh? My car was perfectly fine and then boom, no juice. Guess what? I never made it to that meeting and they ironed out their issues all on their own. Sometimes God works in mysterious ways.
Anyway, let's get up to speed on this renovation and design project.
Plans for the kitchen and eat-in area includes some Chippendale chairs.
If you follow me on Instagram you know the deets about this project. We signed the contract last month for some pretty dream clients, as in clients who have some amazing tastes, handed me the keys and said, get it done in 6 weeks! Yikes. The pressure. But who am I to shy away from a challenge? Let's just say things have been a whirlwind ever since.
So, we initially planned to sand and stain the floors on the main floor. Psst..these are the pictures of the home with the previous owners items so no, this is NOT what we are working with people.

But sometimes a good sanding can reveal some pretty bad things and we discovered flooring that wasn't in the best of shape. In addition, once we started to shop for carpeting for the bedrooms, and saw the insane price tags for said carpeting (I rarely install carpet in my design projects so this was an eye opener) we soon realized that it made sense to bite the bullet and go for the gusto: install amazing dark bamboo floors everywhere.
Here's a preview:

Our newest NWD team member Tamisha, getting down and dirty on demolition day! She learned quickly that this aint all glitz and glam or just keeping track of the budgets, her main gig. Hehe, sorry mama.

We completed the floors this weekend, and also all our lighting selections.
Here's a peek:

We are designing for two little girls here as well and will share some of those design decisions next week.
In other news, we sorta celebrated our one year blogging anniversary back in February. I know, you missed it right? Of course you did because there was like zero fanfare. So, to make up for that little indiscretion we'll announce the mother of all giveaways tomorrow. It's major people, as in so major that Debbie and I'll probably create fake name/email accounts so we can enter to win the items our damn selves. Brace yourselves. It's gonna be bananas.

Project Update...Pink and Grey Living and Dining Room

Remember this project?
Here's where we started in March with the dining room.

Our inspiration...

Where we are today....

Yep. Some key items have been installed but man, what an uphill battle this project has been. Missing rugs, a Twitter fight with the company behind the missing rug scandal; missing lights, many delayed deliveries etc...Let's just say I spent a great deal of time apologizing for snafus. Not cool. But it happens.

Anywho, back to more fun. This was our living room inspiration. I can't find the before but it pretty much looked like the dining room. Dark, gloomy, blah with more blah.

This week we installed the mother of a gallery wall that challenged us to the 10th degree..I don't have a secret/easy peesy trick for installing gallery walls. I mean, I do lay them out on the floor and hash a plan, but that plan changes often so it's never an easy process. Even worse, if I'm using frames already purchased by a client, we'll often encounter those horrible frames with the worst hanging mechanisms known to man, you know the kind with the two tiny triangle flaps that you should somehow be able to attach to hooks simultaneously. I HATE those things and NEVER knowingly, purchase such frames. EVER.
Anywho, Shaggy and I persevered....
Hours later we had some great looking walls, if I may say so myself.

That's all folks. For now. Our client is delivering her fourth child today so we'll take a break until she's ready to rock and roll with the finishing touches.
We'll also finish the family room/kitchenette area and add all accessories then.
What are your tricks for gallery walls? Please share. My aching neck will be eternally grateful.
