Black and White Summer by pretty-little-things featuring green high heels
I could get a LOT of work done in this cozy little office for sure. How genius was that pop of yellow?
So many fun elements in this room. First, making that striped technique look flawless on a wall with an arch and a built-in? Genius. Then there's a quirky art to balance out all those lines, the bar cart, the marble top tulip table. Can you tell that I really, really love this space?
I love the natural wood here against the starkness of the black and white walls, and hello? Those purple feathers? Amazing touch of whimsy. I'd definitely chill out for a bit that foyer.
Okay, seriously, would you even make it up these stairs? I'd kinda just hang out there for a while because who the hell knew a carpet runner could be so freaking fab and fun? Fabulously juxtaposed with that green and white wallpaper no less. And since I'd be having too much fun here, I'd simply have a seat and read me a book no? I likes this stairway. A lot.
I love both these bedrooms for the same reason. They have the bold element of stripes and yet they feel insanely serene and fun (skateboards on the wall? loves)
p.p.s
This broke my heart this morning. I LOVED the Sopranos, especially Tony. RIP James Gandolfini.
Yes, yes, black and white stripes are all the rage this summer. Yours truly even rocked an ensemble at a reggae concert last month. I mean, I gotta stay on trend right?
Well, since we're more about home design than fashion trends around here, of course this means we have to lust after some designs that really rocked out this trend. Let's go.

Hot pink walls next to black and white stripes? I think I'm in love.

The trick to using stripes successfully in design is balance, and I think these designers did a great job of achieving that balance in many ways. Are you living with stripes? Dying to try it or simply over this striped phase? Holla.
p.s. It's gonna be a long night for those of us in Miami and San Antonio. Game 7 of the NBA finals is tonight. It's about to be bananas, especially as all of Miami gets their pots and pans ready to make a whole lot a noise.
Bring it! Let's go Heat!

Love black and white. That first bathroom is crazy good.
ReplyDeleteYou are looking so stylish. Did you notice any of the other ladies and their clothes? I am in love with black and white. That powder room is perfection.
ReplyDeleteThanks lady. But the second most important reason for going to a reggae concert (music first of course) is to see all the jaw-dropping outfits. I don't know how to take stealth photos so I couldn't capture all the madness, but I think u got a hint with the floral printed booty lady behind me. And her outfit was modest. Nuff said
DeleteNow I know we are related for sure! Just yesterday I was looking at the ikea black and white rug( which I want as a runner but they prbly don't have it as such) for my kitchen. I know it will be a nice graphic punch with my pink wall. Unbelievable, plus I posted about stripes too yesterday! Yup, we must meet! If you know where I can buy a black and white stripes runner, shoot me an email. Thanks dahlin:-)
ReplyDeletelol. a meeting my dear, is clearly inevitable. I just searched my usual rug sources and no black and white stripe runners. sucks. you may have to customize, i.e. buy and cut and sew? Hope you paid attention in home ec cause I sure didn't!
DeleteI'm in love with the black and whites in this post. Then, I live in black and white. I'm thinking in the Fall/Winter I will add a huge pop of a color over the sofa on the window wall...if I can find something!
ReplyDeletelove me some black and white stripes!! And you look so beautiful in your stripes!! love it!
ReplyDeleteloooove the black and white stripes. they can sometimes look so classic, but can also go kinda cool and funky too. love the look. also i do a monthly link-up showcasing bloggers' designs in their home. would love for you to add one of your spaces here!

I really like how they used file cabinets to hold up wood for a desk in that first pic.
ReplyDeleteyep. definitely a clever, customized desk for sure

ReplyDeleteHey lady. Thanks for stopping by. It was a skirt, but woulda been fierce as some pants no?
