A Southern Fall. Yes, Yes, We Have Us Some Fall

Okay, okay, we'll join in all this fall chatter. Sure we're dealing with ridiculous monsoon-style rains, and we ain't got no leaves turning brown, but who says we can't have us some fall fun? Around here, we're definitely loving us some cobalt blue, definitely dusting off our ankle boots, long sleeve shirts and sweaters, and rocking a stylish umbrella or two, because hey, anything below 90 degrees is fall to us here in Miami people. We take it anyway we can, and don't you dare judge us.
What are my peeps in Texas, California, Arizona and other warm parts of the world rocking this fall?

Cheers to an amazingly fun and festive Independence Day to y'all. I have to work a bit (aarrgh) but best believe I'll be on the BBQ trail by late afternoon.
Here are some fab eye-candy 4th of July inspired rooms to ponder as you watch your waistline grow by just an inch, or two.

Beach Lovin Summer

Summer Lovin'

Summer Lovin' by pretty-little-things featuring sole society

It's 10,000 degrees in Miami, which means we are ever so slowly just melting away. But it also means it's time to hit the beach on the regular; time to slip into some of our sexiest outfits ever, to maintain a fly pedicure to rock the cutest sandals (p.s. I do talk about people who rock sandals with crusty feet so do tighten up with that please?) Anyways, here are some stylish rooms that definitely say summer fun, summer lovin.

I would give anything to spend at least a day on that pink and yellow cottage and I'd definitely pause for a few minutes to drool over that that turquoise table in that very summer chic entryway. What's your fave?

p.s.
I logged into my blogger account this morning and NONE of my blog reads were available. Zero. What the flacka? Maybe I got the pre-July 1 eviction notice from Google? Has anyone else experienced this? Lemme know.
Anywho, since clearly the Google reader service is no more, please be sure to follow us over on Bloglovin so you can see what we're up to each week and vice versa.
* My account had not had enough Redbull this morning when I posted. My reading list is back. Sweet.

Happy Hump Day!

I spy. Ikat

The amazing Ms. West of Confessions of a Blog Vixen, joins us today to demystify the Ikat trend. You've seen it everywhere but what the heck is it? Well, let's find out...

What's Ikat?
According to Wikipedia, Ikat is a dyeing technique used to pattern textiles that employs a resist dyeing process similar to tie-dye on either the warp or weft fibers resembling tribal print. This print can be spotted everywhere from home decor to fashion.

Ikat Nail Art
Being that tribal prints have been one of my top trends for a couple years now, I figured why not dupe this design on my nails. It was quite simple and super repetitive, as compared to other intricately patterned tribal nail art. Click photo above for this video tutorial.

Ikat Fashion
Ikat prints are vastly varied, yet always repetitive within one garment. These pieces range from the pricey Alexander McQueen to the bargain friendly TopShop.

Ikat Home Decor: My inner designer is making an appearance (I like to think I was one in a former life lol) and spied gorgeous Ikat accented rooms.

And look what I found in my own closet! Ikat pillows I copped from none other than World Market a few seasons ago during their F&F sale. I had no clue of the type of print when I purchased. I just knew I liked it!
