Vacation Destination Vs. Hotel Decor.....

So when it's time to plan that getaway, I always try to cop as many deals as I can, but if airfare is included, that's not always possible. I mean, these airlines charge you for every darn thing...mark my word one day soon we will be paying a separate charge for the use of oxygen while in flight. Hence, I usually end up settling for the basic kind of accommodations. Hey, I'm easy as long as the hotel is a safe area, clean and centrally located it's a win win for me...Double Tree and Four Season hotels are usual my go to brands.
Now, Niks on the other hand sees her accommodation choice as part of the whole travel experience and will usually splurge on this, while my motto is I just need a place to sleep and store my luggage while exploring the chosen local.
But, I must confess that after coming across some of these hotel images, I feel that I have been depriving myself of a great treat while on vacations. Take a look and you'll see what I mean.

Can you believe this is the reception area of the hotel...if you're thinking Vegas..you nailed it.

Errr...a hanging seat in the lobby..and it's kid friendly.  Who would have thought...LOL

Do you only splurge on the hotel if it's for a special occasion? Or do you agree with Niks that a chic and sexy hotel can make all the difference on how you view your vacation experience?  Have you ever stayed in a hotel that just took your breath away with it's amazing design?

Have a great weekend and be safe. See you on the flip side.

    1. Can you believe that's a hotel in Downtown Miami. It reminds me of a chic Paris apartment.

  2. These are absolutely exquisite!!! When I was younger any 3/4 star hotel would do! But hotels are really stepping up their game! Now they're being designed with ambiance in mind and you want that luxury now. You've earned that vacation time and you should treat yourself to the best. I agree with you, it's not the hotel that's a problem but the damn airlines that cause me grief. I live in New Orleans and took a vacation to Vegas two years ago. Omg'd was it a nightmare trying to get out there. Jam packed plane (and this was Delta), super long layover in Salt Lake City Utah and wrong baggage terminal. I stayed at The Venetian and it was exquisite and the room service was fab. However, it was nothing like the pictures you've displayed here. But I've bookmarked some really fabulous places. I'm going to try and feature more of them on my blog and link them to Travel on there. So glad you found me. So glad I found your blog. It's REALLY NICE and please don't quit blogging. I've had my moments where I want to quit too but then it's connecting to people like you that make it all worthwhile. It's just finding that audience! Have a great weekend!

  3. I always think of whetehr or not I will be spending a ton of time in my room and whether or not I have my man with me. If I have my man, a little something more upscale and nice... if I'm traveling, I go pretty standard but not gross. Tropical vacation, I am going full out. Europe, I go on the cheap. haha I dont know how I reason all that but it makes sense to me :) These picks are amazing, ladies!

    Have a great weekend!

  6. I love all these colors of the various settings. Fabulous interior decorating, especially the "honeymoon" one with the water. All of these designs are definitely inspirational!

  7. I will compromise style. It can be an affordable hotel but it has to be photoworthy. I stayed at the cost plus best western in downtown atlanta last month. Very affordable and very cute in the details from the lobby, room, courtyard everywhere. There were hotels I passed up, charging eay more with outdated tube tvs, ugly decor just horrible but yet charged a limb. No bueno. I want someplace visually appealing.
